Mapping Europe’s tech talent for a world-leading venture capital firm

Research &  Analytics

The opportunity

We were tasked with analysing three million tech roles across Europe to gain insight into post-pandemic workforce trends. Through dual surveys aimed at industry recruiters and start-up founders, enriched by 30 subject matter-expert interviews and a deep dive into EU-wide LinkedIn datasets, we constructed a comprehensive profile of the continent’s tech talent, and its dynamics.

Our role

This intricate process enabled us to fuse quantitative and qualitative insights, yielding an integrated platform that highlights Europe’s key technological workforce trends. The initiative drew on our end-to-end offering, from research ideation and data analytics to innovative content creation and design, culminating in the development of a state-of-the-art, interactive website.

The impact

The platform bolstered the client’s market insights for investment decisions and became a beacon, attracting founders and industry talent, that distinctively positioned the client at the forefront of tech ventures.

Elevating economic policy for a government in Africa

“Thanks for the amazing work. Your ability to provide end-to-end support – including the client interface – is unique and wonderful.” - Client feedback

End-to-end

The opportunity

A client tasked us with distilling research for a key  government agency. We crafted a flagship report that assessed the business environment at national and regional levels. The aim was to inform policy and track the progress of reform in this vital African economy.

Our role

Our role was to draw relevant, actionable insights from the data, while ensuring continuity with past reports for an accurate progress assessment. Collaborating closely with our client, we navigated complex datasets, offering interpretative analysis and comparisons with prior studies. We focused on crafting a narrative that would resonate with policymakers and investors.

The impact

Our team led the design over this three-month project, prioritising clear data presentation and visual engagement to enhance the narrative. Distributed among government policymakers and external parties, the report has become a key resource for identifying and overcoming business barriers and aims to boost sustainable economic growth within the country’s borders and beyond.

Establishing Consulum as a thought leader in government advisory

"When thought leadership is integrated into strategy, it drives insight
and impact."
– Ryan Coetzee, CEO of Consulum

Editorial

The opportunity

Consulum is a strategic advisory firm that works with government organisations and leaders. Initially, Consulum grew by word of mouth. However, it became clear that greater brand recognition could create opportunities for talent attraction and client outreach, especially in new markets. Busy Consulum teams produced high-level thinking but needed collaborators to shape these concepts for a broader audience – and so Douglas Knowledge Partners were brought on board as Consulum’s editorial partner.

Our role

With more than a dozen articles on topics from creativity in government to attracting investment for economic development, we have helped to progress Consulum’s thought leadership. Tailoring our approach to their specific needs, we workshopped ideas, developed the “Consulum voice” and built a thought-leadership process guide. Over time, we supported the firm with research, analysis and data visualisation and helped to Consulum to hone proprietary methodologies such as the Government Promise System.

The impact

Thought leadership has now become integral to Consulum’s business strategy: this has provided strategic focus, helping to pinpoint topics and themes that reflect the organisation’s priorities. The approach is purposeful and proactive, creating IP to support Consulum’s differentiated offers. This has boosted Consulum’s visibility as a trusted thought leader on topics of global importance, drawing the attention of significant clients. It has also been beneficial for internal talent development – giving Consulum’s advisors opportunities to develop their skills, expand their expertise and build personal brands.
